Discomfort is normal after surgery, but most patients find it manageable with prescribed medication and proper post-operative care. Soreness, tightness, and swelling are most noticeable in the first week or two and gradually improve as you heal. Wearing your compression garment and following Dr. Jugenburg’s recovery guidelines can help minimize discomfort and speed up recovery.
What Will Scarring Look Like?
Thigh lift surgery involves the removal of excess skin and fat from the inner, outer, or both areas of the thighs to create smoother, more toned contours. As with any surgery, this results in scars, which are an important part of the healing process.
Incision placement depends on the type and extent of the thigh lift:
- Inner thigh lift: scars run along the groin and inner thigh, often extending down toward the knee in more extensive cases.
- Outer thigh lift: scars typically follow the hip and outer thigh line, which can sometimes extend around the buttocks for a more comprehensive lift.
Immediately after surgery, scars may appear red, firm, or slightly raised. Over time, with proper care and healing, they usually soften and fade, becoming less noticeable. Dr. Jugenburg takes great care to strategically place incisions to minimize visibility and achieve natural, balanced results.
Patients are also given guidance on scar management, including silicone sheets, gels, and other treatments to support optimal healing, reduce discoloration, and help scars blend seamlessly with the surrounding skin.
